Achille Fr├ęchette was a translator for the House of Commons and the brother of French-Canadian poet Louis Fr├ęchette. Both were authors in their own right. After their marriage in 1877, they quickly established a distinguished social circle with such luminaries as the eventual Prime Minister, Wilfred Laurier, Alphonse Lusignan and Archibald Lampman.
